Get to Know Our Board Members
Violet Larry was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Violet received her BSN from Linfield School of Nursing. Violet joined the Multnomah County Health Department as a nurse home visitor in 1990. This is where she found her passion for serving her community. Violet was a part of the Healthy Start Family for 15 years, beginning as a nurse home visitor, and later serving as the Nurse Supervisor and Project Director for the Healthy Birth Initiatives program, until her retirement in 2023. Violet was honored to receive the March of Dimes, Heroes in Action award formerly, “Nurse of the Year” 2 years in a row, 2021 and 2022 . The first for Maternal Child Health and most recently for Equity & Leadership. I’m passionate about my community and feel both honored and blessed to be a part of their lives. I’m proud to say I’ve been married for more than 40 years and we are the proud parents of 3 adult children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 granddog, who bring us much joy and laughter.
Marnasha is a Portland native and registered nurse. Graduated from Oregon Health & Science University with her bachelor’s in nursing in 2021. She started her career in cardiac critical care working at Salem Health Hospital. Marnasha has always held a passion for health equity work, especially for underserved populations. She recently transitioned from the inpatient setting to holding a position as a nurse lead in an outpatient clinic. In this role, the care teams bridge health equity gaps for the Black and African American communities and is housed in the historically Black district of North Portland.
She is passionate about creating a diverse nursing profession that reflects the communities it serves. In her free time, she enjoys listening to audiobooks, camping with family, and painting with water colors.
Megan has been a nurse for over 20 years and is deeply committed to advancing the nursing profession. She holds certifications in Inpatient Obstetrics and Nursing Professional Development and has recently embarked on her journey to earning a Doctorate of Nursing Practice.
Megan is the founder of a consulting company that supports individuals and organizations through key transitions in practice—whether guiding new graduate nurses or helping professionals move into new specialties. In addition to her role on the ABNAO Board, she has been an active volunteer with the Association for Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) at both the local and national levels since 2020.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Megan enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, and serving as a troop leader with the Girl Scouts organization.
Erica is a registered nurse, nurse educator, and soon-to-be board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. With 15 years of nursing experience, she is excited to embark on the next chapter of her career—supporting the mental health and well-being of individuals, particularly people of color. Erica is deeply passionate about racial and health equity, advocacy, policy development, leadership, and fostering the vitality and wellness of nurses of color.
A founding member of the ABNAO Board, Erica has served as Vice President, President, and now Treasurer. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and fur babies, cooking and sharing meals with friends, watching shows, reading, playing board games, puzzling, and thrifting.
